About this session

After studying experimental film, Emily Almond Barr honed her technical skills by working her way up in camera departments on feature films and commercials with 35mm film. She has a passion for narrative-driven composition and lighting that extends through her drama, documentary and commercial work. Nominated for a BAFTA Cymru (Documentary Cinematography) and with the BFI feature SWEETHEART winning many audience awards in film festivals internationally, she has some great wisdom and experience to pass on to aspiring cinematographers.

The session will include:

  • How Emily got into the industry
  • Why cinematography
  • How does she like to prep for a film
  • To shoot list or not to shoot list
  • How to choose the right camera and lens package for your film
  • Why do all cinematographers dress so well?
